Festive glitter picture for toddlers.

Writer's picture: walkinthemudwalkinthemud

You will need: • Coloured card. • Pencil. • Coloured felt (optional). • Non toxic glue (PVA and stronger craft glue). • Small paintbrush for applying glue. • A bell – from an old Christmas decoration (optional). • Scissors. • Coloured glitters. • Black felt tip pen.

Firstly put down a waterproof cover if you’re worried about mess, and it will get messy – a shower curtain is perfect for the job.

Draw a festive character on a piece of card with a pencil – we drew a reindeer and a snowman. Cut shapes out of felt or card for highlighting parts of your character such as hat, scarf, antlers, collar etc.

Glue the shapes onto your drawing with PVA glue. Add a bell to your reindeer’s collar with craft glue. You could try stick arms on your snowman or a cotton wool beard for your Santa. T was in his nappy because our glue doesn’t come out of fabrics.

Brush PVA glue onto your character trying to keep in the lines, then sprinkle glitter over and leave to dry. Try adding different colour glitters for light and shade areas by glueing, glittering one area, then gluing and glittering the rest with another colour once dry.

Finally when the picture is dry outline it and add detail with a black felt tip pen.
