Edible paints.

T like many toddlers his age still can’t help but taste EVERYTHING. Earlier this month T dashed to the front door and scooped a handful of dry mud (that had fallen off his dads work boots) into his mouth!

So keeping that in mind I used the Sugarflair paste colours I bought for his Rainbow birthday cake and coloured some yoghurt to use as paints. Please excuse the clutter – I was taking advantage of the weather to dry my washing and make a dent in our ever-growing laundry basket.

The colours were great and the natural yoghurt was the perfect ‘paint’ consistency. We used paintbrushes, spoons, sponges, hands and feet. The paint holder was an ice lolly mould from ASDA and the paper wasn’t the only canvas!

T did eat quite a bit of the paint and we all painted each other’s faces but the yoghurt paint washed off our skin and clothes easily – although I do recommend old clothes just in case.

If you have carpet I suggest a waterproof play mat or shower curtain as it does get messy. The ‘works of art’ can’t be kept as the yoghurt will turn mouldy but it helps with fine motor skills, hand eye coordination and it’s great fun!

Happy painting! Mamma bear x
