I bought some bamboozles new from Babi Pur and some second hand (or preloved as I prefer to call them) from a Facebook cloth nappy selling group.
I’ll start off by summarising the nappy for those of you in a rush and then I’ll follow up with some of the finer details.
Nappy type: Two part system / All in two.
Extras needed to complete nappy: Waterproof wrap and fleece or disposable liner.
Fastenings: hook and loop.
Extra features: snap (CAM) fastenings to reduce the size to fit smaller babies – snap in insert included.
Pros:
Can be used as an effective night time nappy.
It doesn’t go crunchy after washing.
Pretty colours.
Bombproof if boosted and used with a well fitted wrap – great value for money.
Beautifully soft for a very long time.
No rough edges to irritate sensitive skin.
Comes with a snap in matching booster.
Cons:
The whole nappy becomes wet (if you have a heavy wetter and don’t boost overnight) so your baby will only feel dry in the area where the fleece liner is between nappy baby, this isn’t a problem if your baby doesn’t mind feeling wet.
It does get rougher and less flexible the more it is washed but not rough enough to cause your baby out toddler to become uncomfortable.
They’re quite bulky between the legs especially when boosted.
Sizes reviewed: Size 1 (6-18lbs) and Size 2 (9-35lbs).
I bought a one size 1 and one size 2 new and six size 2 preloved. I was looking for a nappy to fit my newborn baby overnight as our birth to potty nappies were leaking through the leg cuffs with my daughter being a heavy wetter.
I used hive mind and asked on Facebook’s many cloth nappy groups which nappy is the best for nighttime use and bamboozle was amongst the most popular along with Little Lamb AI2 (all in two) systems and some more expensive all in one nappies.
The size 1 nappy fitted my 8lb baby well and was lovely and soft. I’ll not lie, they took a little boosting to keep her leak free overnight but Tots Bots do inform you of this. The size 2 still fits my toddler and he’s three in ten days time…
I used a single bamboo or Zorb booster for overnight use (whichever I had to hand) and a waterproof wrap to cover the bamboozle ensuring none of the bamboozle was showing otherwise I would get contact leaking.
I personally prefer nappies where I can use a fleece liner to cover the absorbent materials so baby feels dry but neither my baby or toddler were bothered by the wetness of the nappy so it is simply me being pernickety.
The bamboozle was rather bulky, especially on my newborn and even the size 1 made her legs stick out to the sides. It fitted my almost three year old much better but if used through the day I did notice he walked slightly differently. He never seemed uncomfortable in them and they really are a staunch favourite as a nighttime nappy for my toddler and probably will be for my daughter too as she gets older.
In conclusion the bamboozle really is bombproof if you use it correctly and is one of the prettiest fitted AI2 nappies around with their bright colours and jazzy stripes. They definitely get a thumbs up from me and my kids!
