Tortilla wrap pizza cake.

It’s like a pizza, but it’s not a pizza, it’s actually undoubtedly so much better than a pizza. You really must try it to appreciate its epicness.

This pizza is not a one for those on a diet. It’s decadent, loaded with toppings and insanely delicious!

For your Tortilla Wrap Pizza Cake –

You will need:

  1. Tortilla wraps.

  2. Cheese of your own choice – cheddar & mozzarella is nice.

  3. Pre-cooked toppings of your own choice – we used pepperoni.

  4. Pizza sauce or a thick pasta sauce.

  5. Olive oil or butter.

  6. A cake tin or a large oven tray.

Method:

  1. First start off by finding a cake tin or oven tray large enough to fit your Tortilla wraps in – we used a cake tin with a spring release outer but you can always just use a normal tin then cut and serve direct from the cake tin or oven tray.

  2. Lightly oil or butter your tin or tray and put in your first wrap.

  3. Add some of your pizza sauce to the wrap like you would if you were making a pizza. If you don’t have pizza sauce you can make your own using passata, a little tomato puree and a teaspoon of sugar (or to taste). You can also cook down and thicken a pasta sauce and use that.

  4. Add a sprinkling of your toppings – if you are feeling decadent – then a layer of grated cheese.

  5. Place another wrap on top and repeat steps 3-5 until you have lots of layers of Pizza Cake loveliness.

  6. Add your final layer of pizza sauce, pre-cooked toppings and cheese then bung it in the oven with a tray underneath at 150°C and check on it every ten minutes or so until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Cooking tips:

If you make your pizza too high the centre won’t cook enough for the cheese to be warm and melted.

One of my best friends showed me this recipe, she had already made it earlier that week but they had made it a little too big for the centre to get hot enough so we decided to have a go while we were having a drink or two (hence the poor photos – hiccup!) and make it a bit smaller than her previous creation.

I’m not sure on the oven time so just keep an eye on it.

Ok, so we were a bit tipsy – as afore mentioned – and I can’t remember how long we had the pizza cake in the oven for. I reckon if you pre-cook your toppings or buy them ready to eat then all you need to wait for is the sauce to warm through and the cheese to melt.

If when you cut your ‘Tortilla Wrap Pizza Cake of Awesome’ your cheese in the middle isn’t melted or it’s cold – then just bung it back in the oven and wait a little longer. No drama.

Of course please keep an eye on it and don’t burn it either. Golden bubbly cheese is delicious – black burnt cheese… Not so much.
